We all love going to the movies. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that has likely provided all of us with cherished memories. If I were to ask you what the first movie you saw in a theatre was, you’d probably be able to tell me. For so many reasons, we believe that our theatres are the “Best Place to Watch a Movie,” and we always focus on reimagining the most immersive cinema experiences for our guests through the latest and most cutting-edge formats—including 4DX, ScreenX, RPX and IMAX.
I want to share some information about the steps Cineworld is taking to further enhance our ability to provide the best moviegoing experience to our guests.
Earlier today, we announced that we have commenced Chapter 11 cases. We believe that these Chapter 11 cases will ultimately allow us to restructure our debt and give our business the financial strength and flexibility to accelerate, and capitalize on, our strategy in the cinema industry.
Importantly, this is a process which is specifically designed to allow us to continue operating our business and theatres as normal without interruption while we seek to strengthen our financial position. We continue to welcome our guests to cinemas around the world, which will not change during the Chapter 11 cases, and expect that all membership programs, including Regal Unlimited and Regal Crown Club in the United States and Cineworld Unlimited, should continue as usual.
